Job Description

This is a 6 month contract and onsite in Houston, TX.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review business and technical requirements to ensure clarity, completeness, and testability.
  • Acquire expert-level understanding of business processes and enterprise-supported applications.
  • Create and manage test plans for both new and existing software systems.
  • Perform comprehensive testing including functional, configuration, deployment, performance, integration, and usability testing.
  • Track test coverage, progress, and results using application lifecycle management tools.
  • Develop and maintain test harnesses for rapid, repeatable, and reportable testing.
  • Automate test scenarios to improve coverage, reduce testing costs, and increase efficiency over the application lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with development teams to quickly identify and resolve software defects.
  • Log and manage bugs and defects in lifecycle management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with development and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor post-release software quality, triage issues, and expedite fixes with development teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support high-quality application delivery and maintenance.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years leading and managing testing efforts for large enterprise IT projects across multiple teams.
  • Familiarity with memory analysis and code profiling tools (preferred).
  • Broad technical knowledge including networking, load balancing, Active Directory, .NET applications, middleware, and virtualization (e.g., VMware vSphere).
  • Solid SQL skills including complex queries, data modeling, backups/restores, and support for test data scenarios.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; capable of conveying complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong advocate for software quality; able to clearly articulate risks and impact of quality issues.
  • Background in software development or test automation with 4+ years of programming or automation experience.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited 4-year university, or equivalent work experience.
