Membership Engagement Director

Rochester, Minnesota

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Membership – To lead the Rochester Chamber’s member retention and engagement efforts through relationship building with new and existing members and communication. To promote and grow active partnerships with existing and new members, encouraging an understanding of membership benefits and demonstrating the value the Rochester Chamber brings to their organization.

Programs & Publications – To promote and grow active partnerships with existing and new members, demonstrating the value the Chamber brings to their organization, including encouraging member team engagement in events and programs of the Chamber. Grow involvement in and sponsorship support of Chamber publications and events.

This is a full-time, onsite position in Rochester, Minnesota. Benefits include 401k, dental insurance, health insurance, vision insurance, and paid time off. In addition to the base salary range of $55,000-$62,000 this position is eligible for monthly commissions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Membership

• Lead and manage the Chamber strategy for engagement and retention, engaging staff support when necessary.
• Actively engaged in the process of on-boarding new members of the Chamber.
• Connect with existing Chamber members to ensure communications are being received, member information is accurate, and to encourage an understanding of member benefits.
• Communicate Chamber member feedback to appropriate team members
• Manage Chamber member database, including prompt, well-organized documentation of member activities and assistance in the processing of member payments. This includes the documentation of retention strategy efforts.
• Assist in the implementation and execution of a strategic sales plan to grow the membership base of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce
• Partner with the membership and events team to ensure coordinated, well executed events, and positive member experiences.
• Assist in the recruitment of new Chamber members.

Programs & Events

• Actively support and participate in Chamber events, including those events focused on growing member connections. Business After Hours, AM Espresso, and more.
• Development of a strategic sales plan to acquire and retain sponsorships for Chamber events and programs.
• Manage and schedule member ribbon cutting events, including communication with the Chamber Ambassador Committee.

Publications

• Grow advertising in Chamber publications, both print and digital, and the Rochester Chamber website to meet revenue goals. Publications include: The monthly Advantage, weekly Update, Chamber website.

Committees

• Serve as staff lead for the Ambassador Committee of the Chamber.

Other

• The member engagement director must be visible and engaged in the community, attending Chamber events and being a positive representative of the Chamber in the Rochester community and surrounding area.
• Support and engage in Chamber initiatives and programs to achieve strategic goals.
• Other duties as assigned by the president.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

The ideal professional for this role will possess:

• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience and ability to effectively communicate with various audiences, listen, speak, write, present, and interact appropriately with public and private individuals and groups.
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with business members.
• Knowledge of business-to-business sales practices.
• Knowledge of event planning and promotion.
• Creativity and strategic thinking.
• Strong organizational practices to ensure project timelines and standards are met.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and sales experience. Adobe CS (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Excel, PowerPoint, and Word experience are welcome, and will be considered when choosing the best applicant for this position.
