Job Description

Job Title: Director of Human Resources - Hospital Operations

Salary: $145,000-$175,000

Position Overview: The Director of Human Resources (HR) is responsible for developing and overseeing programs related to employee selection, training, promotion, welfare, and employer/employee relations. This role involves interviewing job applicants, developing personnel record systems, addressing disputes and grievances, recommending disciplinary actions, and analyzing, classifying, and evaluating jobs. The HR Director also administers employee welfare and recreation services and acts as an advisor to executive staff on personnel matters related to policies, programs, and organizational changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain up-to-date and compliant job applicant files for various positions within the hospital.
  • Design and promote programs that enhance employee morale, with approval from the executive staff.
  • Support the development and implementation of in-service education programs.
  • Conduct annual salary and wage comparisons based on market research.
  • Perform special studies and analyses of problem areas as requested by the CEO/Administrator.
  • Regularly consult with hospital employees to ensure open lines of communication and foster positive staff morale in a professional and productive work environment.
  • Assist hospital personnel in establishing and implementing hospital philosophies, strategic objectives, and productivity standards.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant healthcare experience in an acute care setting.
  • In-depth understanding of hospital organization and departmental functions, including personnel practices and techniques such as review and job analysis.
  • Familiarity with the labor market, laws, wage and hour regulations, and ERISA guidelines preferred.
  • Knowledge of state and federal wage and hour laws required.
  • Experience with Joint Commission and HFAP standards preferred.
  • Experience in union relations and negotiations highly preferred.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Expertise in current personnel practices and training methods.
  • Strong understanding of labor market trends and related regulations.
  • Ability to handle complex employee relations matters effectively.
  • Proven ability to foster a positive and productive organizational culture.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with staff at all levels.
