Position Title: Firefighter/Paramedic/EMT

The City of Monroe Fire Department is currently hiring for Firefighter/ Paramedic/ EMT. All candidates must complete the FireTEAM exam through National Testing Network by March 21, 2025.

All candidates must also complete the Public Safety Self Assessment (PSSA) located in your candidate profile on National Testing Network by March 21, 2025.

In addition all candidates must complete a department application located online.


Salary Information: Pay Range for EMT Basic is $55,608.13—$75,070.98 depending on years of experience. Pay Range for Paramedic is $64,876.16—$87,609.60 depending on years of experience.

Job Requirements
Age: 18 - 35

Citizenship Required: Authorized to work in the US

Valid OHIO Driver's License: Valid driver's license

Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes

Prior Experience: Necessary Certifications

Necessary Certifications: Ohio Firefighter II and Ohio EMT Basic/Advanced/Paramedic Course

Hiring Process:

Complete testing through National Testing Network and submit to Monroe with a passing score of 70% or higher.
Physical Agility - modified combat challenge performed by department
Panel interview and EMS Skills Assessment
Upon Conditional Offer of Employment
Background investigation, personal history questionnaire, and CVSA.
Psychological Assessment
Pension Board Medical Assessment, drug screening

Additional Requirements:
All applicants with EMT Basic and EMT Advanced certifications will be required to obtain Paramedic certification within 24 months of hire date. Department pays for books and tuition.
