Position Overview

Annalect is currently seeking a Director of Data Engineering to join our Technology team remotely. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, guiding, and owning the development of the data mesh. You will oversee and guide teams that work on various domain nodes, establish patterns between teams, and guide the development of data mesh. You will work with interdisciplinary teams to help make data usable and accessible across our product portfolio and numerous users. You will lead the technical architecture, design, and development of the product as well as the research and evaluation of new technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Steward data and compute environments to facilitate the usage of data assets.
• Lead teams that design and maintain data nodes
• Guide data stewards and data custodians to design data nodes that process data efficiently and make it consumable to other stakeholders
• Guide development of data sharing layer (API, workbenches, etc)
• Design, build, test, and deploy scalable and reusable systems that handle large amounts of data
• Standardize the development process where needed; allow local differences where advantageous
• Perform code reviews and provide leadership and guidance to junior developers
• Lead teams to maintain central metadata catalogs of data assets and data flow diagrams
• Work with Product, UI/UX team/ Scrum Master, and QA engineers to help shape a high-quality data product and ensure it is delivered on time
• Aid in planning product development and timelines

Required Skills

• 7+ years of solid coding experience
• Strong expertise with big data
• Experience working with data and databases (SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora, Redis, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery)
• Fluency with Spark and other Hadoop ecosystem software
• Fluency with AWS cloud services, esp. EMR, Glue, Athena, and Redshift
• Experience designing and managing data flows
• Experience designing systems and APIs to integrate data into applications
• Experience with Linux/Unix Systems and fluency in bash
• Ability to write high-quality documentation and draw architecture diagrams of the software
• Past experience managing a team of developers
• Passion for Technology: Excitement for new technology, bleeding edge applications, and a positive attitude towards solving real-world challenges

This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, other job-related qualifications/skills, and geographic location (to account for comparative cost of living). The Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Compensation Range:

$140,000-$180,000
