San Diego, Ca

The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with employer match, paid time off, and various wellness and discount programs.

This role is for an experienced Manufacturing Manager to lead daily operations in a high-volume, low-automation production environment within a growing dental manufacturing organization in San Diego. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality output by managing teams, processes, and resources to meet organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities Highlighted:

  • Operational Leadership: Directing and coordinating daily operations to meet production targets and quality standards.
  • Team Management: Supervising, developing, training, and motivating teams (20+ employees).
  • Process Improvement: Implementing Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement techniques to enhance efficiency.
  • Quality and Safety: Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and potentially regulatory standards like cGMP, ISO 13485.
  • Resource Management: Monitoring inventory, developing staffing plans, and coordinating equipment maintenance.
  • Reporting & Communication: Completing accurate reports and fostering cross-departmental collaboration.

"CDT Preferred" - What it Means:

CDT stands for Certified Dental Technician . This preference indicates that the employer highly values candidates who possess this certification. Here's why it's beneficial for this role:

  • Deep Industry Knowledge: A CDT has hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of dental prosthetics, materials, and fabrication processes. This understanding is crucial for managing a dental manufacturing environment effectively.
  • Quality & Precision: Dental technicians are trained in high-precision work and understanding the aesthetic and functional requirements of dental products. This aligns perfectly with the need for high-quality output in this manufacturing role.
  • Regulatory Awareness: While not explicitly stated as a direct requirement for the CDT itself, individuals in the dental field are often more attuned to the specific regulatory and quality standards (like cGMP, ISO 13485) relevant to medical devices, which dental products fall under.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Their practical experience in creating dental devices equips them with unique insights into potential manufacturing challenges and effective solutions.
  • Credibility with Staff: A manager with a CDT certification can better understand the day-to-day challenges and intricacies faced by the production team, fostering better communication and respect.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of management experience in high-volume, low-automation assembly or light manufacturing.
  • Lean & Continuous Improvement: Strong knowledge and application of these principles.
  • Regulatory Familiarity (Preferred): cGMP, ISO 13485, and related quality systems.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop large teams (20+ employees).
  • SOP Development: Experience with creating and enforcing standard operating procedures.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency, basic math, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving skills, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Benefits:

The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with employer match, paid time off, and various wellness and discount programs.

In essence, while strong manufacturing management experience is essential, a Certified Dental Technician background would give a candidate a significant advantage due to the specialized nature of dental manufacturing.
